Job Title: Ripening Manager

Pay Rate: $52, 000- $54, 000

Shift: 1st

Benefits: Medical, Dental, AD&D




Reports to: DC Manager / National Ripening Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Job Purpose: The Ripening Manager is responsible for the efficient operation of the ripening facility within the warehouse. They will work closely with customer and vendors to ensure optimal fulfillment of orders with product that meets customer standards, and in accordance to WCD procedures.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Establish a forecasting model based on information from customer, historical demand, and business capacity.
  • Manage the continuous ripening cycle to meet demand and maintain product quality and shelf-life.
  • Conduct required inbound inspections to ensure product meets criteria prior to the ripening process.
  • Communicate with customer and Distribution Center any anticipated changes in demand or supply.
  • Implement and maintain proper sanitation in area.
  • Implement proper Preventive Maintenance program for rooms and equipment.
  • Track and maintain records of any customer feedback, with corrective actions as necessary. 




Education and/or Experience: 
  • Functional knowledge of:
  • Ripening Process
  • Ripening quality and maturation.
  • Knowledge of Produce supply chain.
  • Strong Planning and organizational skills.
  • Must have well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to provide clear objectives offering support for completion through subordinates.




Computer Skills:  
  • Strong computer skills required;excellent with Excel and all Microsoft automation
  • Preferred WMS skills required. 




Reasoning Ability:  
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of management and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to manage and lead a diverse workforce.
  • Good organizational skills
  • Knowledge of DC operations
  • Strong sense of teamwork
  • Able to adhere to strict deadlines

  • Lifting up to 50lbs
  • Working while standing for long periods of time 
  • Sitting at a computer for long periods of time
  • Certified on MHE Equipment (Electric Pallet Jack, Sit Down, Reach)
